Hesston Community Child Care is a private, non-profit childcare program, which in partnership with the community seeks to serve families with children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years.
The program provides a safe, healthy, stimulating and secure Christian environment that responds to the individual needs and diversity of the children and families who choose to participate in the program.
Children are viewed holistically and encouraged to become self sufficient, contributing members of society through: the interactive nature of the curriculum, center policies related to discipline and problem solving, and interaction with educationally trained, caring and dedicated staff.
The purpose of Hesston Community Child Care is to be of service to the child, the parent, and the community. The child and his/her needs shall be the dominant factor in determining the services offered. Honest efforts will be made to provide loving care, adequate supervision, wholesome recreation, and stimulating learning experiences for all children, in order to help them develop well-rounded personalities.
Preschool years are important years when a child’s basic patterns of life are being formed. They are beginning years when a child’s academic foundations are being built. They are prime years when children form attitudes, establish values, and find they are persons of worth. Our aim is to provide a stimulating, creative, positive, and secure learning environment, to develop the child’s overall skills and self-concept.
The Child Care Center does not replace the home – it complements it. We provide experiences with other children and adults of varyiing ages under the supervision of trained personnel. This does not take the place of true love and understanding from parents and other family members.
Hesston Intergenerational Child Development Center is licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to care for 99 children at 441 Neufeld Drive. This includes 9 infants, 20 toddlers, 28 children ages 2 to 3 years, and 42 children ages 3 to 6 years of age.
The Hesston Child Care School-Age Program is licensed to care for 56 school-aged children, 5 to 12 years, before and after school, plus a full day program in the summer in the Hesston Elementary School, 300 E. Amos.
We welcome children with special needs. Our goal is to work with the Special Ed. Co-op to provide an educational experience for each child in the least restrictive environment, but we do not promise that we will be able to meet the needs of every child.
